Our 1 day outdoor first aid qualification is aimed at anybody active in the outdoors but close to help. You’ll learn the fundamentals of first aid in the outdoors, gaining the skills and confidence to manage a first aid emergency.
British Canoeing require a minimum 8 hour outdoor first aid qualification for level 1 and 2 coaches and paddlesport leaders. This course meets that requirement. Mountain training have the same requirement for candidates on Climbing Wall Instructor assessments (formerly Climbing Wall Award). For higher level awards, our 16 hour outdoor first aid qualification is likely to be required.
We believe first aid is a practical subject best taught practically. That’s why we build in so much time for hands-on training and scenarios within our courses. Learning by doing means that you’ll leave the course with embedded knowledge and skills, increasing your ability to react effectively in an emergency.
Topics covered on this course include:
Managing an unconscious casualty in the outdoors, including shelter and insulation
Heart problems including cardiac arrest, CPR and defibrillator use
Seizures
Choking
Bleeding and shock
Heat and cold related conditions (hypothermia, heat exhaustion and heatstroke)
Recognition of traumatic injuries
Medical emergencies including asthma and anaphylaxis
Our 1 day Outdoor First Aid Emergency Action course is a level 3 regulated qualification, awarded by ITC First. The exams regulators for England (OFQUAL) regulates the qualification, so you can be assured that your trainers are appropriately qualified and experienced, and delivering up to date training.
With a little additional learning, this course meets the requirements of the Forestry Commission and Natural Resources Wales for contractors on their land. We can provide an additional +F certificate to successful candidates for an additional fee of £10pp.
We’re based on the South Wales border, close to Cardiff, Bristol and Gloucester. We travel widely and can deliver this course at your site anywhere in South Wales, South West England or the West Midlands. Get in touch for a discussion and quote.
