Description

Advanced Outdoor First Aid

Experienced practitioners renewing their existing qualification may want to take their skills a step further. The ITC Advanced Outdoor First Aid qualification is the perfect opportunity to do so. Building on your current skills and knowledge in outdoor first aid, this course will stretch you further and help you to prepare for the worst.

Advanced at the Basics

Unless you’re working as a fully qualified expedition medic or within the emergency services, you’re unlikely to have access to more advanced equipment for casualty management such as oxygen and airway adjuncts. With this in mind, the ITC Advanced Outdoor First Aid course is focussed on developing your skills at managing an incident with the tools you have to hand.

The scenarios on this course are typically more remote in nature than on the standard 16 hour outdoor first aid course. You’ll be encouraged to practice pro-active casualty management, rather than reactive, meaning that you’re able to avoid some of the problems associated with caring for a casualty in remote environments.

Outdoor First Aid Renewal

As a 16 hour outdoor first aid course, this course meets the requirements of UK outdoor qualification awarding bodies, and sits at band 4 on the IOL Framework for Outdoor First Aid and so is suitable for outdoor professionals including Winter Mountain Leaders and Expedition Leaders.

Due to the more advanced nature of the course, it is a pre-requisite that candidates already hold a current 16 hour outdoor first aid qualification, and it is advisable to have renewed this more than once in the past.
